Andrew Moreno didn’t “ease into” poker.

He watched a few dudes splash around for $3…then met one guy who could literally name people’s hands like it was a magic trick.

So Andrew did what every sane college freshman would do:

He went home, opened PokerStars/PartyPoker, and basically stopped going to class.

A few months later he’s sitting in a $3,300 online sit-n-go with $400 in his bank account… triple-barreling ace high, ripping it in on the river, and watching his opponent fold.

That one bluff paid for a limo…and the limo night is the night he meets his wife.

Poker is weird like that.

If you’re new around here: every week (or so) we yank a gambler straight out of their seat at the table to tell us how they got there…and what they’re up to now.

This week’s episode is Andrew’s full arc — from “degenerate heads-up kid” → to staking/coaching a live cash stable → to getting coached by Chris Brewer → to finally shipping a $1.4M Wynn Millions score…

…all while trying to be a husband + super dad with two little ones and a travel budget that looks like a small business expense report.

But first — want to clear a 200% deposit bonus and battle some fellow degens online?

Phenom Poker is now running daily MTTs, and first-time depositors can get up to 200% on $2,000 when you sign up with our link:

🧨 Ace High, Limo Night, and the Wynn Millions Glow-Up

Andrew (aka AMO4SHO) grew up bouncing around (Army family, Germany years, Indiana, Texas, Michigan…), then pulls a very bold move at 16: moves to Arizona to live with a friend’s family for his senior year.

Then poker happens.

And once poker happens… college becomes a “maybe later” thing.

From there it’s:

  • Heads-up sit-n-gos, learning what hands can win at showdown (and learning it the hard way)

  • The $3,300 “ace high” bluff that becomes a bankroll, a limo night, and a marriage origin story

  • Years as a live cash grinder… then eventually running a stable (and trying not to go broke doing it)

  • Getting uncomfortable (in a good way), leveling up stakes, and finally stepping into tournaments

  • Coaching with Chris Brewer, immediate results, and a new style: “If you’re going to fold… why wouldn’t I bluff?”

  • Then the big one: Wynn Millions$1.4M → and suddenly the pressure of “providing” feels lighter when the first kid arrives

Also: he spent $90k on travel last year… which is one of the reasons he’s pulling the reins a bit this year.

🔥 What We Talk About

  • The real origin of “AMO4SHO” (and the sibling rivalry behind it)

  • The moment poker “clicked” — and college quietly disappeared

  • The degenerate heads-up era (before tools, before solvers, before anyone was “good”)

  • The ace-high triple barrel that accidentally changed his entire life

  • How to run a stable without getting buried

  • The Brewer coaching unlock: “If they’re folding… bluff more.”

  • Why PokerGO Studio can be too fun (and too easy to fire more bullets)

  • Family, taxes, travel costs, and what “playing less” actually means
